If you're overweight, chances are you think it's because you just have too much excess body fat. While that's true, another big problem lies in the fact that you probably have way too little lean muscle mass. Lean muscle tissue keeps your whole body working and increases your resting metabolism. This means that, despite being overweight, your metabolism is actually running at a higher rate than normal. And the more lean muscle you build, the more calories your body burns off, leading to weight loss and weight gain.
To understand how creatine monohydrate and resistance training can help you shed those pounds, you first need to understand how they work together. Resistance training involves exerting maximal force against gravity pull (i.e. lifting a barbell straight up). Creatine monohydrate supplements enable you to work off a much smaller force, thus allowing you to lift much heavier weights.
As mentioned earlier, the key to losing and building lean body mass is increased muscle tissue. However, increasing muscle tissue alone won't cause you to lose weight. Losing weight requires decreasing your calorie intake and increasing your physical activity. For instance, if you eat a lot of extra calories (and consequently burn a lot of them), but you seldom exercise, then you'll only lose weight because your body is burning off all the calories you took in. This is known as the starvation effect.
But gaining muscles requires something different: resistance. The more resistance (weight) you exert against your muscles, the faster they grow. But you also need to provide your muscles with the right nutrients in order for this to happen. Fortunately, this is quite easy to do.
I'm not talking about crash diets or supplements. I'm talking about quality protein intake during your workout. Just like food before and after a workout, you need to eat enough quality protein immediately after a workout. Protein provides the necessary amino acids to make your muscles grow. It also helps rebuild broken down muscles. And it's the best thing you can do for your diet, period.
Most people think that high intensity, high repetition workouts will get them the results they want. This is simply not true. If you want to see results, cutting calories is a far better way to go than just going for high intensity workouts. As explained above, cutting calories will allow you to eat more quality protein during your workouts which will allow you to build more muscles.
So cutting calories means cutting back on junk food, soft drinks, and anything else that doesn't provide you with a lot of energy throughout your exercise session. This includes eating more lean meats and whole grains, which will give you an increased ability to lose weight. Lean meats and whole grains are packed with calories, but they also pack quite a bit of nutrients too so eating them will provide you with the vitamins and minerals you need to get and stay healthy.
As you can see, cutting calories doesn't have to mean compromising your ability to get and stay healthy. You can eat whatever you want as long as you're taking in fewer calories than you burn during your workout. When it comes to your diet, cutting calories is crucial to your success as a fit father project. So take a few minutes today to really evaluate what you eat during your workouts and how reducing those calories will help you reach your fitness goals.
So you've been working out and now realize that all your hard work in the gym isn't paying off. Well don't panic because it's not the end of the world. What you need to do is start incorporating more high intensity exercises into your workout routine. High intensity exercises will get you more results in less time so they should definitely be included in your routine. Here are a couple of those exercises that are very effective when it comes to building muscle.
You need to start performing interval sprints with your workouts in order to maximize your weight loss goals as well as your muscle gain. Interval sprints will get your heart rate going and will also provide you with a great amount of strength training for your body as well. With your workouts are more intense you will be burning more calories while you are running which will allow you to continue on your path to becoming a fit father project.
Another important thing to remember is that your weight loss efforts will take time. Don't expect to lose weight and then put it back on very quickly. You have to have patience with yourself and stick to your plan. By eating right and having a healthy diet you will achieve both of these goals and much more.
